Situated at the end of the naturally formed boulder bank that makes up Cable Bay, connecting the Island to the mainland, this hut is only 30 minutes drive from Nelson City. The beautifully scenic island is a working sheep station, wintering over 2,000 sheep, and around 100 cattle. As a privately owned farm, we love to give you this opportunity to experience the best of its incredible and incomparable landscape. At 1,316 ft high from sea level, and an area of 1,280 acres, the steep and rocky hills roll down through paddocks and native bush, ending at the ocean with towering cliffs and hidden pebbled beaches, the island is a unique example of distinctive land form and terrain.
$120.00 This is for transport on arrival and departure
Rocky Point is a one and a half hour walk from the reception car park. It is quite challenging in places due to the steepness so moderate fitness is required to do the walk.
To save time and energy we can meet you on arrival and transport you and your bags to the hut

Access to Passage Hut is by 4WD only, if you are in a 2WD vehicle you will need to leave your vehicle at the reception carpark. The walk in is approximately 40 minutes, it is not a difficult walk but can be very hot in summer.
Alternatively book our hut transport and we will meet you on arrival.

Answer: Hello Louise, yes you can drive here from Nelson, about a 30min drive, go down Cable Bay Rd and there is a natural boulder bank that you can drive across to Pepin Island.

As long as there you are in a 4WD yes, otherwise it is an easy 20 minute walk or we can transport you in at extra cost.
