About your host, Anna

Anna's Photo

Growing up on farms in the UK and with a deep appreciation of the environment and its safe keeping, I studied Environmental Science at University. Ian also loved his farming child hood and with his engineering background we were both very fortunate to be able to travel extensively through work, spending time 'off the beaten track' in remote corders of the globe. In 2003 we discovered Takou River Farm and moved here in June 2004 with our then two tiny children. We now have three teenagers who have loved and thrived on the the environment; farming, planting trees, riding, surfing, mountain bike, cross country running and swimming. When we arrived, the farm and land needed much love and attention, and our first challenge was to convert it to certified organic status, which we achieved in 2006. Since then we've run our beautiful and docile herd of Hereford cows, together with a varied menagerie of pigs, sheep, ponies, ducks, chickens, pet dog Charlie, and rabbit. We started work converting and creating our cottages in 2004 and in 2008, finished building our own beautiful off-grid home, perched high above the farm looking over the river and out to sea at Takou Bay.
