The kitchenette has all the pots, pans and utensils, however electric appliances such as a microwave, electric jug aren't present here so boiling the kettle is your go to. Bring your own food and drinks along with your readiness to get back to basics. There still is a cooling facility available to keep food cold. You will be cooking on gas, and boiling hot water so your glamping approach is a must! We supply tea, coffee and milk plus a complimentary local bushblock honey for you.

Retreat in the Wilderness, also known as Ngahoro Cabin (means drop off/out) is a little rustic, completely surrounded by nature cabin. Your bedroom has a wood burner to keep you cosy during those colder days, just take one step outside to your rustic outhouse. The under cover glamping area has picture perfect views through the windows and a very basic kitchenette. While lighting your outside bath enjoy a stunning sunset over Mount Taranaki, keeping in mind you are experiencing all of this from the central plateau.

Hi there, we're Mal & Catherine and we have been married 30 years with three amazing sons that have now fledged. We also have two beloved grandchildren who we treasure. Neither of us have been scared of change, however this challenge has not been for the faint of heart taking on a 75 acre bare bush block 820 meters above sea level. We can honestly say apart from rearing our family, this is the most exciting 'living the dream' challenge we have had and are experiencing. We're so proud of our slice of paradise and we would love to share our dream and gorgeous property with you!
