The Beach Cottage - Matira, Waikato
DIRECT BEACH ACCESS | DIGITAL DETOX
We know it's a little cold out there
Winter stays at our place can be quite invigorating and good for the soul; with the combination of fresh clean air, a digital detox and the good climb back up from the beach.
The place is quite small so the open fire (dry wood & pine cones available) warms up most of the cottage well.
Watch the elements with ocean views from each room when the weather isn't great, or just snuggle up beside the fire with a book or board games (both available for use), after you have put a roast or similar in the oven .... bliss.

Just a fine weekend to go fishing off the rock. Great sleep and good to relax before life gets crazy again - thank you.
Lovely break in ideal location. Fish aplenty!
Fantastic spot, great get away for the weekend would definitely be back in the future ... thank you Lisa.

Eating and Drinking
The Cottage has good water from a Natural spring, gas powered hot water (lots of hot water!), flush toilet, and a full kitchen with oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, etc (BYO sharp knives).
While most people get to the Cottage and never want to leave just down the road (20mins) is the Nikau Caves & Cafe
(www.nikaucave.co.nz), they do great coffee and homemade food in an amazing setting.
There is also a good walk to a waterfall fall from the cafe and of course the Caves themselves which some say are better than Waitomo - bring your old clothes for that!
