Te Oranga is situated west of the rural village, Maungatapere which is on Highway 14 the Whangarei Dargaville main road.
Our small farm, Te Oranga, is in a quiet, private location sited up on a small volcano, Whatatiri! Te Oranga means "well-being."
The farm is a small working horticultural/ livestock farm. You'll love staying here because you'll get a real feel for kiwi life. We are Kiwis, and yes if you are bored and want to help us on the farm you can! This site is close to beautiful open spaces, like the volcano Mt Maungatapere, which we look directly at while sitting on our volcano, Mt Whatitiri. Don't worry all are dormant (aka asleep).
We are 20 mins from Whangarei, an hour from either a west coast or east coast Northland beach and about 1.5 hrs from the Kauri forests of Northland.
The Packard and Pioneer museum is in Maungatapere. Pre-booking by email is best but Guests can book on the day. However, as we are usually outside throughout the day it is best to text a message or ring in the lunch hour.
The fee of $ 35 is for 2 people. Extra people a further $10 per night. To just Park-over and be totally self contained (not plugged into power etc ) it is $20 per site per night.

About your host, Janet
Te Oranga is the home of a NZ potter who is currently too busy to pot as the farmlet grows flower, vegs and fruit as well as livestock. I am on my own at the moment as no woofers and my part time business partner and soul mate are trapped offshore because of the border being closed . It is always good to have brief visitors to break the silence !
