A 40 minute drive east of Martinborough in the South Wairarapa, Rustic Eco-friendly Cottage is set in a quiet private spot, surrounded by native bush.
Our renovated eco-friendly accommodation offers a comfy stay with minimal impact on the environment. We source power from the sun and wind, which is stored into batteries and run as a 12 volt system. Rainwater is collected and stored into a large tank and instant hot water is heated by gas.
Venture outside and explore the initial surroundings of the Cottage - the native bush, the creek while spotting wildlife. A must for the more energetic is a 5km bush loop walking track climbing up to 360-degree rural views out to the Pacific Ocean in the distance. Or simply relax on the deck, flicking through a mag, while listening to the bird song. During the cooler months, snuggle up in front of the fire enjoying the many books and games on offer.

Located at Tora in the South Wairarapa - 5 minute drive from the rugged Tora coast, a scenic 35 min drive from Martinborough and 2 hour drive from Wellington city. Set in a secluded and peaceful spot the Cottage ensures you privacy while not too far off the beaten track. With touches of recycled timber, unique decor and natural textiles, the Cottage has a warm rustic, whimsical vibe.
Built from recycled materials, the cosy cottage has an open kitchen-living area, one private bedroom and inside bathroom with flushing toilet.
Leather sofas, feather cushions, wool throws and a wood burner come together to create a charming, snug and relaxing space.
Double french doors lead onto a long deck. Take a seat soaking in the sounds from the regenerating ngāhere (bush) while watching the sun set over the rolling farmland in the distance.
After dark, snuggle up on the porch and stargaze up at the expansive South Wairarapa Dark Sky reserve. The starry sky at night is stunning.
If you're an active relaxer there's plenty to do.
Highly recommended is the 5km bush walk up to the Rocky Knob - 318 mtrs above sea level to where you'll feel most alive. The views are breathtaking.
Bush Bathing - sorry no hot tub involved but a quiet meander in the bush alone can do a world of good for our mental health and well-being. Listen, observe, smell, breath, feel. Tonic for the soul.
Challenge your mate over a board game or browse through the eclectic selection of books.
Longspur is a truly restful place. You’ll feel this the first time you drive up the track to the Cottage – a hidden treasure that forces you to take a deep breath and just... relax.

Wonderful peaceful stay at Longspur, the bed is so comfortable and the cottage is kitted out with lots of thoughtful details. We were a bit challenged by the loop walk - amazing views but a bit overgrown at the moment so not for the faint of heart, and definitely not during gale force winds! Will happily visit again in future.

Awesome stay here - very nice small cabin/cottage with nice outdoor area. The place is warm and has all the amenities you need (if you don't need technology that is!). Great communication from the host. Only downsides were no hot water for the shower (but worked for the basin and kitchen sink), and couldn't see the BBQ that was mentioned on the listing.

Very comfortable and well equipped cottage in beautiful natural surroundings.

We had a brilliant time - Perfect set up for what we wanted. We had two girls who loved splashing in the stream.
The walk was great for them - quite challenging but well worth it.
Fire was so warm and wood was dry and plentiful.
Birdsong in the morning was wonderful too.
Loved it - look forward to returning.

About your host, Tineke
Hey there,
My husband Stew and I live along with our spirited three children on our bush block named "Longspur" originally "the longspur paddock" on the main farm.
Stew is a fencing contractor around our district and I cater for guests tramping on the local Tora Coastal Walk.
We're a relaxed, friendly family that wishes to share our piece of paradise with you.
