Waikorea Beach is located between Raglan and Port Waikato on the West Coast of New Zealand's North Island.
The Cottage is a 2 bedroom "Bach" overlooking the beach, every room has an amazing view. The Cottage is on a 1500 acre sheep and cattle farm.
Staying at the cottage gives you the opportunity to escape the madness of daily life & either sit back and enjoy the views or get in amongst it, whether this be;
- long farm or beach walks
- fishing (surfcasting, longlining or off Split Rock)
- sliding down sand dunes
- bird watching (NZ Dotterels)
- exploring archaeological sites
- or, taking your own horse for a stroll down the beach at low tide.
Access to the beach about 300m down a pedestrian/Quad bike access route, it is quite steep in places and unfortunately is not suitable for wheelchairs or baby buggies. A good level of fitness is required.
BRINGING YOUR ANIMALS
Due to lambing season, unfortunately, we cannot have dogs at the property between 1 August to 1 December. Horses are fine, but we suggest you bring electric fence standards & tape.
- Well behaved dogs are also welcome (dogs chasing farm animals will not be tolerated). Also, there are a few dotterels on a piece of the beach (easily avoided) which I’m keen to keep dogs away from. Beach is about 5km long so lots of space without hassling dotterels in their 150m stretch - info on the location of dotterels is in a folder at the cottage. The section is fully fenced. Chasing of possums in the flax is fine!

The Cottage has good water from a Natural spring, gas powered hot water, flush toilet, and a full kitchen with oven & large fridge/freezer.(BYO sharp knives). .While most people get to the Cottage and never want to leave just down the road (20mins) is the Nikau Caves & Cafe (www.nikaucave.co.nz), they do great coffee and homemade food in an amazing setting.
There is also a good walk to a waterfall fall from the cafe and of course the Caves themselves which some say are better than Waitomo - bring your old clothes for that!

The Beach Cottage is a rustic, recently rejuvenated 50-year-old bach overlooking the beautiful remote 5km Waikorea beach. It is set amongst native bush and as such you may see or hear possums, rats, mice and even wild goats and pigs.
We recommend 4WD vehicles as the farm track can get very slippery following heavy rain.

To keep you warm in the evenings the cosy lounge has an open fire and there are an outdoor brazier and firewood to burn.

This location offers a true escape from the modern communications world - no phone, internet, cellphone or TV at the cottage, although you will get cellphone coverage just 5mins walk from the cottage and on the beach - if you must.

A beautiful spot to unwind and disconnect from any technology. The cosiest cottage with a roaring open fireplace. Views of the beach and surrounding rolling hills. We will be back!

Great off grid unique private stay. Communication was excellent from the hosts. Got a little bit lost on the track in but figured it out seeing the power lines. Loved the chairs on the walking track to the beach to look at yet another amazing view point as well as connecting with the digital world to check messages. Enjoyed lunch enroute at Nikau Cafe. Thanks for a fabulous stay and allowing access to this slice of paradise. Hidden gem. Recharged.
Felicity - Dec 2021
A wonderful secluded hideaway for the whole family. The owners have allowed access to enough parts of the property to keep you busy over the 2 night stay. From looking for the elusive Bitten for our young twitcher, swimming in hole at the end of the Waikorea Stream to chilling out around the fire place at the end of the day.
Jared - Apr 2021
Another awesome stay
Pip - Mar 2021
Was a epic place. Will be back. Place could do with a tidy up around the out side but hay it just adds to the wild west coast. I do reccomend this epic place
Jake - Jan 2021
Nice location and interior. Fabulous shower pressure. Great views. Didnt see a single other soul. Great that there was no tv or reception for phones. Helped us detox from technology a bit.
Downside- ants everywhere, including joining us in bed... but that's summertime at beach, and I think they got driven inside with showers ! Total lack of smoke alarms, which I dont even think is legal.
Jenna - Feb 2020
Incredible, remote, stunning spot with everything you need. I want to say it was awful so no one else knows about it.
Matt - Jan 2020

Had a great stay with Fam, weather wasn’t kind to us but was a fun relax, walks along the beach, toasting marshmallows and eating and drinking too much! Lunch at Nikau Cafe on the way there and a soak at Waignaro Hot pools on the way home.
Lisa - Oct 2019
Our family had a fantastic time.. the cottage is tidy, homely and cosy... the farm and animals were great for the kids to see.. and the beach is paradise to explore!

Excellent Kiwi Bach, loved the location, smoky fire and wild weather made for a great time. Awesome shower!
Seals, Dotterels, Oyster Catchers, Geese, Goats along the beach and dunes made it a great pleasure to be in this West Coast Idyll.
Not easy to find, but I guess a bonus, we saw no other humans 😄
Will visit again.
Ian - Aug 2019
What a fabulous piece of paradise. We picked the worst weather of the winter but it was wild and wonderful at the beach. The Bach was cosy with the open fire and we enjoyed the spectacular view. We will be back 😊
