Guests love the private, relaxing setting, the smart use of space, and all the little extra touches; the outdoor bath, the games and books, and the delicious breakfast provided, including fresh eggs from the onsite hens. The free-range guinea pig 'lawnmowers' are pretty cute too.
We are delighted to welcome you to enjoy a small piece of our paradise.
We both come from a long line of enthusiastic gardeners, and while we’ve always grown a few vegetables for our family, we always dreamt of doing more.
In 2022 we found we finally had the time and energy required for a larger space – and so here we are, in the stunning Akatarawa Valley, 40 minutes north of Wellington. This passion project continues to be a learning curve, but we are a bit proud to say that we grow garlic, broad beans, rhubarb, tomatoes and flowers rather well (and we’re slowly learning about everything else). We are animal lovers too, and you will always find a herd of guinea pigs, roaming free as our natural lawnmowers, and hens, providing fresh eggs.
Of course, we also love sharing and hosting others (including your pet dog), and so Larkhaven Cabin rural escape was born.
