A private off-grid cabin lost in the wild heart of Northland, New Zealand We will transport you to the Ridge Hut in our 4WD up rugged farm tracks to a beautiful clearing where you find peace, solitude, relaxation and comfort. Below you, an endless valley of ancient native bush rolls out like a dark green ocean, untouched and silent. No roofs. No roads. No powerlines. Not a single sign that anyone else has ever existed. Just you, the wind in the treetops, and a sky so pure that when night arrives, Orion’s Belt hangs low and bright enough to touch. This is your place now. For as many nights as you choose, the cabin is yours alone. Step inside: a warm, cosy, timber-lined cabin with a comfortable queen bed already made up for your arrival. A little kitchen corner waits with a two-burner gas stove and a camping fridge to store your supplies. Outside next to the wide deck sits the hot tub, if you would like to add that to your experience. There are no neighbours. There is no light pollution. There is only the sound of the native forest, and the slow exhale of being un-plugged from the hustle and bustle of life, to a landscape that has forgotten hurry. Bring your own food for your short stay, and arrange additional food supplies to be delivered by your host, if you are staying more than 4 nights. Pack your favourite books, a journal, a guitar, a telescope, or nothing at all. Bring someone you love, or come alone to remember who you are when no one is watching. Here, time stretches. Read until the sun warms the deck. Write while the mist drifts up the valley. Walk the ridges at dawn. Meditate as the Milky Way unfurls overhead. We’ll drive you up the private 4WD track, hand you the key, and a walkie talkie, and leave. When you’re ready, we’ll come back and get you. You crest the last ridge in our 4WD and the world simply… falls away.

Below you, an endless valley of ancient native bush rolls out like a dark green ocean, untouched and silent. No roofs. No roads. No powerlines. Not a single sign that anyone else has ever existed.

Neil Visited the Ridge Hut at Kōmanawa for two nights. What a spot! Nestled near the top of a ridge, high enough for views but sheltered from the wind. Surrounded by native bush. After an exciting ride up to the ridge along farm roads you arrive at the most picturesque haven. Beautifully nestled into its spot. Just perfect for a secluded escape from the rest of the world. You feel like you've arrived somewhere where life is simple, calm and peaceful. Streams and bush walks and a short drive to beautiful east coast beaches. Highly recommended.
