Reviews

The wee schoolhouse is the most wonderful place to stay in the Oamaru area. It is about 30 minutes from town but you are in the middle of the countryside with the most amazing vistas around you. The schoolhouse is just gorgeous - it's been decorated beautifully and you have EVERYTHING you could need! The bed is sooooo comfortable - the Wifi is excellent - the breakfast options are delicious! Loads of space to move but still cosy and warm. I cannot recommend it enough!

The Little Red School House is a unique and historic home away from home. It has more amenities than you would expect. The location is quiet and 'retreat like' amidst green conifers, hills and pasture land. It was a real treat to be able to stay here. We were made very welcome.

A truly wonderful place to stay. Located in the countryside, so you wake to the sound of bird song in the morning. Cute place, with good amenities (everything you need for making a meal!), and a lovely sense of history about it. Would happily stay there again.

Lovely place to stary. Beautifully decorated and fully provisioned! Also such a stunning sunrise and luner eclipse! Thank you Nic.

What a beautiful place! Thanks so much for your hospitality and for providing such a special rural retreat. I love it and hope to be back in the not too distant future.

About your host, Nic

My husband and I are sheep and beef farmers on the foothills of Five Forks (30 minutes drive inland from Oamaru).

My husband is fourth generation on the farm, so we are passionate about the land, area and community. We have three children ranging from ages 4 - 14. During our spare time we enjoying camping, fishing, spending time at the lakes or just plain old fashioned family time together.

We love to share our piece of paradise with our guests and indulge them in the farming environment with showing them over the farm if arranged prior.
